I've been playing guitar, electric bass and mandolin for over 30 years. I.ve played in bands of almost every style, and it.s a pretty rare moment when I don.t have some sort of stringed instrument in my hands. My influences run from guys like Django Reinhardt and Chet Atkins to Jerry Garcia, Hendrix, Clapton, Page and Beck. Next to playing music my greatest joy comes from sharing my knowledge with others. I started playing guitar as a sophomore in high school. After graduating from High School I attended Berklee College of Music as a Bass major. While there I studied with both John Neves and Greg Mooder. In 1985 I was fortunate enough to study with one of my guitar heroes, Jorma Kaukonen. Jorma was the lead guitarist in the Jefferson Airplane and played on all of their big hits, including .White Rabbit., .Somebody To Love., and also his great solo acoustic song .Embryonic Journey.. He still performs as a solo guitarist and plays with his band, Hot Tuna. In the 90.s I ran a music therapy group in a day program for developmentally disabled adults and was fortunate enough to make the acquaintance of local blues legend Ronnie Earl. Ronnie was a volunteer who came to play guitar in my music therapy groups. Having the opportunity to play with Ronnie was a real treat, and I learned a lot from him during our time playing together. In 2008 I reconnected with Jorma Kaukonen when I spent a week at his guitar camp, Fur Peace Ranch in Pomeroy, Ohio. While I was there I studied with Fareed Haque of Garage Majal. Studying with Fareed the emphasis was theory. Two years later I.m still working on what I worked on with Fareed.
